What is listing?

To start selling your product on Amazon.in you first need to list it on Amazon.in. You can provide your product information such as the product category, brand name, product features and specifications, product images, and price. All these details are available to your customer to help them purchase your product (as shown here).

To list your product, you need to have your product SKU details (e.g. Barcode, UPC, EAN) and in some cases, product information (features, model number, size, expiry date, etc).

How to create a new product listing?

Amazon listing process is easy and simple. If your product is not listed on Amazon, you will need to create a new listing, so that customers can find all the relevant information about it. When you list a product on any of the Amazon international marketplaces, it automatically generates an ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number).

Following a few tips on how to list products on Amazon can have a big impact on the success of your export business. As a seller, you can make it easy for eshoppers to find your offers by adding descriptive titles, clear images, and concise feature bullets to your products.

This is what a product detail page looks like on Amazon:

1. Product title :- A concise description of the product (approx 200 characters).

2. Product images :- Clear photographs of the product that show as much detail as possible. Images should be at least 500×500 pixels in size, although 1000×1000 pixels is recommended when you want your product to be viewed in detail.

3. Variations :- Products that vary by color, scent, or size can be listed as variations.

4. Bullet points :- Bullet points briefly list the top product features and catch the customer’s interest.

5. Featured offer (“Buy Box”) :- The featured offer on a detail page. Customers can either click on “Add to Cart” or “Buy Now”

6. Other offers :- The same product sold by multiple sellers offering a different price, shipping options, etc.

7. Product description :- The product description provides detailed information about the product. Optimize using keywords that someone looking for your product might enter in the Search field. You can provide several search terms.

List your products in bulk on Amazon in no time

Listing is an essential part of setting up your business on an online marketplace like Amazon.in. It is the process of creating your product catalogue by detailing out the product description and other mandatory features to present it online for purchase by customers. As a retailer, you may have hundreds of products to sell and listing them one by one can seem difficult and time consuming. But it doesn’t have to be like that! You can use Amazon’s pre-set excel templates (available in Seller Central ) to create listings all together in bulk. All you need is to follow three simple steps:

>Input information about your products in the file
>Upload the file to Amazon.in via your Seller Central Account

Once you log on to your Seller Central account, you can click on Inventory, and then click on Add products via upload. You can click on the product category you plan to list, download the file and save it on your desktop.

Once you open the excel file, you can go to the instructions sheet that has all the step-by-step information required to list the products for that specific category. The Data Definition sheet gives detailed information on the use of each field that you are required to fill in to create the product listings. Finally, you can click on the Template Sheet and start filling in the product details such as Title, SKU, Product ID, Product ID type, Product Format etc. All mandatory data required for listing are clearly highlighted in bold. However, it is highly recommended to provide as much data available as possible. Once all the necessary columns are filled, you can save the file on your desktop and make sure while saving you follow the file format as mentioned in the excel.

Upload the file to Amazon.in via your Seller Central Account

Once again, log on to your Seller Central account and click on Inventory. Continue on to the Add products via upload page and under the Upload Your Inventory File tab, go to File Type and select Inventory Files. Then click on the browse button, select the saved and edited excel file and click on the Upload Now button. Do keep an eye on the Upload Status and keep monitoring it. Once done, you will receive a confirmation message indicating that your file has been uploaded successfully and that your bulk listing is complete. It’s that simple!

How to list products on Amazon that do not have barcode/UPC/EAN?

Amazon uses product IDs to identify the exact item being sold. If you match a listing, you won’t need to provide a product ID since it already exists. If you’re adding a product that’s new to Amazon, you may need to purchase a UPC code or request an exemption.

If the product you sell does not have a barcode or a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), you can request a GTIN exemption to sell your products on Amazon international marketplaces. Once we have reviewed and approved your application, you will be able to list your products.
